Autumn Discoveries!

Last week we went out collected Autumn leaves to do some leaf rubbings with crayons. These look very cool and we created a beautiful autumn tree on our back wall.
At morning tea and lunch time the children of Room 4 went out exploring to see what else we could find.
 We found some seeds
We found some big long seed pods that looked like beans. They fell off the trees in the senior lunch area.
We cut them open to see what was inside.

 We made a mess!
We found some helicopters! We had fun throwing them around the classroom. Lucas N told us they come off the sycamore tree.
This got us thinking. How do they spin down to the ground like they do? Mana said it was because they had one wing that helped them fly. Noah knew there was a seed inside at the end and it's heavy so that's why it drops down. The wing is what makes it spin.
We started trying to make our own helicopters with paper and seeds. Some of them even spun like the helicopters off the sycamore tree!

We wanted to know what it would be like if we dropped them off somewhere high? Stay tuned for the next blog where we will talk about what happened when we visited the senior playground...
