Practising our High Frequency Words

We have been practising writing high frequency words correctly. We are painting them on tiles, photographing our work, then cleaning it off when we have finished.
These children have remembered to use their work in progress cards so we know who the work belongs to!

Practising Punctuation

We have been noticing punctuation in our reading and trying to use it correctly in our writing. This week we have been practising using playdough. We are also learning how to photograph our work as evidence of what we have been doing on the stations.

Oh My Godness

This week it is Lucas N's job to empty the recycling bin. Today he needed a helping hand!
We poured the bin on the floor and this is what we found!!!
Lots of pencil sharpenings
Some magazines
Two pairs of scissors
And a whole lot of pens, crayons, glue sticks and rubbish!

We had to have a big discussion about what goes in the recycling bin and what belongs in the rubbish.

What is in your classroom recycling bin??

Amelia thinks they look a bit like weeds.
Lucas N knows we needed water and lots of sun and soil for them to grow.

Sunflowers

This week we have been reading The Sunflower That Went Flop by Joy Cowley.
We have been sketching sunflowers.
Amelia and Zoe found some sunflowers that had gone flop at lunch time! We put them in water to see if we could save them.
Jan brought some seeds to school today for us to plant.
We have been composting the garden so there were lots of wriggly worms in there!
This is what the seeds look like.
We used sticks with our names on them as markers. We are going to have a competition to see who's seeds will grow the tallest. Noah has sunflowers at home but they are only small ones. Ours might grow to 2 metres!
